Featherview is an image viewer for the Mac that keeps up with your fingers. Open one picture, flip through the whole folder, toss the rejects, batch-convert the keepers.
psst: the keys work right here. Try holding →.
speed
The next photo is ready before you ask for it. Huge folders open without the window freezing. You stop waiting and just look.
spinner: currently unemployed
the viewer
One window, the picture edge to edge, and your keyboard. Panels appear only when you ask.
Double-click a photo in Finder. It opens, and the rest of the folder lines up behind it.
Rotate, zoom, trash, full screen. Each is a single key, no finger yoga. Mouse fans get a toolbar.
R and L turn JPEG, HEIC and TIFF without touching a single pixel.
Delete goes to the Trash. Batch output never overwrites. One broken file never stops the show.
Press I to see the camera, lens, exposure and when the shot was taken.
Real Mac menus, full screen, Open With, drag and drop, true colours, and HDR that glows on HDR screens.
keyboard
Every viewer action is one key, no modifiers to hold. Coming from a classic Windows viewer? Your fingers already know most of these. The ⌘ shortcuts are there too.
// Esc leaves full screen. It never, ever quits.
formats
Every picture shows up the right way round, in true colour.
Phone photos, camera RAW, the modern web formats, even SVG and PDF pages.
Formats macOS gave up on, read by Featherview itself. That PCX from your first PC, a MacPaint doodle, a telescope’s FITS? Opens fine, and Finder shows their thumbnails too.
Layered Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, Paint.NET and PaintShop Pro files, shown flattened. Procreate artwork from your iPad too, at full size. No editor needed.
And it saves to all the useful ones: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, AVIF, WebP, TIFF, PDF, and even ICO and ICNS for the icon crowd.
batch
Pick the keepers, choose a format, a size and a name, add the steps you want, watch the preview follow along, press Convert. Keep the recipe as a preset for next time.
Resize, crop, rotate, fix colour, sharpen, add a border, stamp text or a watermark, and rename with a pattern.
languages
Featherview follows your Mac’s language. Arabic and Hebrew flip the whole window right to left. Your photos stay the right way round.
Written in Swift on macOS’s own image engine. The viewer, the formats, batch, translations and Finder previews are built; animated GIFs come next. The first release is on its way.
